AJ Hurst named as Phoenix Contact’s - UK Distributor of the Year…

AJ Hurst has been named as the Distributor of the Year by Phoenix Contact UK after posting exceptional sales growth over the last year.

Up against some of the biggest names in the industry, the Belfast-based company was presented with the prestigious award at a special ceremony in Birmingham in recognition of the company’s exceptional sales growth, which saw AJ Hurst increase turnover by 60%. Phoenix Contact is a global market leader and innovator in the field of electrical engineering and AJ Hurst has been an established Phoenix Contact distributor for over 15 years, operating as a ‘Tier 1’ UK National Distribution Partner.

“We are delighted to have won this award, particularly given some of the companies we were up against,” commented Mark Goldsbrough, Sales Director at AJ Hurst. “This prestigious accolade was the result of negotiating new contracts, primarily within the monitoring, diagnostics and electronics sectors.“Northern Ireland is a very lucrative market and the opportunities are out there; it’s just a matter of tracking them down. These new contracts alone have seen our Phoenix Contract business increase by 60% last year, with a further 35% growth expected this year.”

Colin Green, General Manager at Phoenix Contact Ltd, added, “Our partnership with AJ Hurst gives us supply and application solutions and a one-stop-shop for controls and automation established in a key market,” he said. “Their relationships and understanding of customer needs are vital to our success. Customers can expect value-adding services and support from a strong local team with market leading brands.”

As one of the UK’s leading suppliers of lighting, communication and power system equipment, AJ Hurst prides itself on its solutions-driven approach to projects and that is why the extensive product range offered by Phoenix Contact is a perfect fit. Mark added, “For a lot of people, when they think of Phoenix Contact they think of terminal blocks, but this is a company that has in excess of 60,000 products so they generally have a product that will provide you with the solution you need.”

At the heart of Phoenix Contact lies an extensive product portfolio that includes device and PCB connection technology, industrial components for electrical engineering and electronics as well as industry-specific automation solutions. This extensive product portfolio is further enhanced by the company’s expertise. From Product Application Engineers to senior management, AJ Hurst has access to the full team of experts at Phoenix Contact and it is this partnership approach that has helped bring such significant growth for both companies.

Mark explained, “We are a proactive company and we work directly with our customers to offer them solutions that are not only cost effective but time saving as well. If they show us their project, we can provide them with the best-fit system. “It’s the opposite of a one-size-fits-all system. Instead, we design, manufacture and supply bespoke products and systems to cater for each individual project. We’ve worked on substantial projects with Phoenix Contact right across the commercial and industrial sectors which have showcased our expertise in electronics, power management, automation, and monitoring and diagnostics. “Phoenix Contact’s partnership approach is all about meeting objectives together and the company enjoys having the freedom of coming up with new ideas. That is why this is the perfect partnership, not just for AJ Hurst but, more importantly, our customers.”
