The year was 1969 and AJ Hurst were based at College Square North in Belfast City Centre, an area affectionately known as ‘Bomb Alley’. It was a chance cold call from Jim Keane a representative from a relatively unknown French company called Telemecanique that changed the direction of our business forever.
We weren't convinced at first, but after a few 'refreshments' at the nearby Europa Hotel Jim had ignited our interest to the possibilities and potential of industrial motor control and switchgear. Over the ensuing years and together with Telemecanique's MD, Bob Hudson we introduced Northern Ireland to Telemecanique motor control products, significantly growing awareness of the motor control brand, with Harland & Wolff and Short Bros among the first companies to join us on our journey.
Fast forward 54 years, Telemecanique has become Schneider Electric and the TeSys motor control system is one of the most recognised brands in the industry, renowned for its comprehensive range of products that enhance the efficiency and safety of electrical installations.
